Something good

Each day you awake, assume something good is going to happen to you.

And if a whole day passes and nothing good happens, realize it’s not that nothing good happened, it’s that you missed it.

Not everything good that happens to you in life comes with bells & whistles attached. Sometimes the good in our lives is composed very simple moments we take for granted.

If you don’t see the good in your day to day life, look more closely.

Because if you’re alive, it’s there.

A good example

Good people like to treat people well. Good people especially like to treat people they know are good people well.

If you want to be treated well by those you cross paths with in life, make it your mission to leave people feeling better, not worse, for having come in contact with you.

Be patient with people. Be tolerant. Be generous. Be honest. Be trustworthy. Be kind.

Be a good example of what it means to be a good example.

Turn positive things into shared experiences

Heads up, heroes!

Your mission, if you choose to accept it today, is to look for and act upon any opportunities to take something positive and make it bigger and better by turning it into a shared experience.

Look for and draw attention to the positive.

If you’ve ever appreciated being noticed for something you take pride in, take a moment to show that same appreciation to someone else.

Give a sincere compliment to a stranger. Like what they’re wearing? Tell them.

Did someone help you? Say so. Even better, tell their boss.

Did you enjoy an experience at an establishment? Tell someone.

Even better, leave a sincere positive review somewhere, even if that means sending an email or leaving a voicemail at the main office. Mention people by name.

Whatever good you come across today, keep the cycle going and the good energy flowing by sharing it.

Take the time. Be someone’s hero.

Take notice of those who go unnoticed.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it today, is to notice anyone who may be taken for granted or going unnoticed.

Look for people putting in a solid effort at their jobs.

Consider friends or family who are supportive and encouraging.

Look for people committing acts of kindness.

Think of those who have made or continue to make a difference in your life.

Look for those setting a good example.

And when you notice them, acknowledge them in a meaningful way. Be specific.

Leave them with an encouraging encounter and something positive to remember.

Look for the good

Your mission, if you choose to accept it today, is to look for helpful people.

Look for the courteous, the patient, the generous.

Look for those who make others smile.
Look for the encouragers.
Look for those who show kindness.
Look for those who help set a good example for others to follow.

Don’t focus on a lack of any of these things. Of course negativity exists. Nor is it a challenge to find. That’s not the point.

Just focus on finding the above positive things — as you might if you were on a scavenger hunt.

Look for the good.

If you discover something you don’t like, either take action to fix it (if you can) or simply acknowledge it and move on. Let it go.

Today’s mission is about finding the good stuff that often goes unnoticed.

Look for it.
Find it.
Remember it.
Be happy it exists.

And make more of it if you so choose.

If you build it…

Sunshine on your skin.
The smell of coconut oil.
The clink of ice in your drink.
Sand under your feet.
A gentle breeze.
The sound of birds.
Distant laughter.
Waves crashing.
A smile on your face.
And total relaxation of your mind, body, and soul.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it today, is to take 60 seconds or more painting your own vivid mental picture of what peace, happiness, and relaxation means to you today, breathing deeply, and simply enjoying it.

Life is short.

Life is short.

Have a purpose. Set goals. Complete as many as possible.

Live with intention. Don’t waste your time caught up in things that don’t matter. But take time to smell the flowers or stare up at the sky and marvel in wonder.

Live with integrity. Set the example you’d like to see.

Connect with those things that fuel your passions.

Stray from your comfort zone now and again. Try new things. Stretch yourself.

Find someone or something you can be good for.

Wear your invisible cape.

Every day.

Even on Mondays.

Here’s to the content creators

When was the last time you got something of value for free on the Internet?

Your mission, if you choose to accept it today, is to give thanks or show appreciation to the person, people, or company that provides (or provided) something you enjoy.

Be it an article, blog post, recipe, photograph, work of art, piece of music, podcast, comic, your favorite artist or musician or website or whatever — take 2 minutes to go give thanks or appreciation to a content creator.

(Not the person, site, or company that shared the artist’s work, I mean the actual creator. The musician, the photographer, the artist, the writer, the company… The thing you appreciate originated from somewhere. Where? Who created it?)

In a world that wants everything for free, content creators often go undervalued and unappreciated.

Take the 2 minutes to write a sincere email or leave a comment for someone. Even if you don’t expect it will ever be read.

Chances are it will, and even it isn’t read by the person it was intended for, it sets a good example.

But above all, you’ll feel good about showing appreciation.

And if it’s not already something you do regularly, you might just find that you enjoy it so much that you want to make a habit of it.

It is so easy to be a bright spot in someone’s day.

If it wasn’t on your to do list, why don’t you go ahead and add it.

Be someone’s reason to smile today.

And if you like it, be someone’s reason to smile every day.

You never know, you might just turn into a bright spot in someone’s life. :)

Acknowledging positive influences

Your mission, if you choose to accept it today, is to think of someone who has influenced you in a positive way and then take the time to tell them.

Whether they set a good example, or inspired you, motivated you, offered you support when you needed it, encouraged you, made you laugh, or were simply kind to you, if you respect and admire that person, let them know — and be specific.

“I really admire you.” is nice.

“I really admire you because…” is even nicer.

And if you can’t think of someone — or can’t get in touch with that someone — then BE that someone for someone today.

Be the person that others admire.

Lend a hand. Offer a word of encouragement. Be kind. Set the example you’d like to see.

But don’t do it because you expect anything in return. Just do it because it feels good.

That’s your mission today.

And if you like it, every day.

:)
